Mara is a municipality in province of Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2008 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 212 inhabitants. It is located in the Comunidad de Calatayud comarca, on a high plateau that is part of the Sierra de Vicort range. The archaeological remains of the Celtiberian and Romano-Celtiberian town of Segeda-Sekeiza are located between Mara and the nearby Belmonte de Gracián.

History
En las cercanías de Mara, concretamente en el denominado Poyo de Mara, se encuentran restos arqueológicos pertenecientes a la antigua ciudad celtíbera de Segeda.
A mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar tenía contabilizada una población de 281 habitantes. Aparece descrito en el decimoprimer volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Monuments
Monumentos destacables son la torre de su iglesia parroquial de San Andrés apóstol, de mudéjar tardío rematada por un chapitel barroco, además de su bello interior reformado en la época barroca con un retablo dedicado a San Andrés rematado por un medallón de María Santísima, y para cerrar el remate, un gran espíritu santo. Se conserva una reliquia pequeña de san Andrés.

Sus fiestas mayores, se celebran en honor a los Santos Fabián y Sebastián, ambos patronos del pueblo, el 20 de enero. Otras fiestas muy destacadas son las de San Pascual Bailón el 17 de mayo; y las de verano dedicadas a San Roque el 16 de agosto. Por otra parte ya no se celebra ni Santa Brígida ni San Andrés.
