History
Hasta el 3 de mayo de 2010 el municipio se denominaba Villadecanes, pasando entonces a tomar la denominación de Toral de los Vados.

What to visit
Festejos:
En los días 10, 11 y 12 de julio, se festejan las fiestas de San Cristóbal. En su transcurso se celebra la Feria de la Artesanía. Otras fiestas son: San Isidro, el 15 de mayo; Maratón de Toral de los Vados en el mes de mayo (con repercusión estatal) y Toral de los Vados en Tren, actividad cultural nacida en 2002 que explica el desarrollo de Toral tras la llegada del ferrocarril y que se celebra en junio.
A finales de julio se celebra la Toralè Classique, un evento de ciclismo retro, donde las bicis clásicas y la música son protagonistas.
