San Carlos del Valle is a municipality in Ciudad Real, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It has a population of 1,218.

History
Although they found traces of prehistoric civilizations, Roman, Germanic or perhaps Arabic, the true origin of the town can be traced to the former chapel of Santa Elena, built in the twelfth or thirteenth century. The chapel stood until the eighteenth century, and one of its walls, the venerated image of Santo Cristo del Valle was painted.
During the sixteenth century, the first permanent settlement of the town developed around this hermitage. The rise in pilgrimages to pray to Christ prompted the Crown and the Council of Military Orders to build a new chapel, along with some facilities to provide shelter for the pilgrims.
Following the work carried out during the reign of King Philip V, which led to a rapid increase in population and urban redevelopment, the need for further development became apparent during the reign of King Charles III, under the guidance of Pablo de Olavide. Later, in December 1800, King Charles IV issued a Royal Charter that granted San Carlos del Valle independence, establishing it as the autonomous municipality it is today.

Iglesia del Cristo de San Carlos del Valle
Denominada iglesia parroquial del Santísimo Cristo de San Carlos del Valle, esta iglesia barroca se edificó entre 1713 y 1729. Tiene cuatro torres cada una con un chapitel madrileño típico y una cúpula central de gran altura de más de 28 m en su interior, coronada por una aguda flecha chapitel de impronta norte-europea muy alta, que alcanza los 47 m desde el suelo. El 17 de abril de 1993 fue declarada Bien de interés cultural.
Plaza mayor
Tiene forma rectangular, con 53 m de largo por 21 de ancho, está rodeada de columnas de piedra que soportan pisos y galerías adornadas de balaustres de madera. Por su disposición es evidente que nace con una función de escenario de actividades colectivas y de reunir conjuntos numerosos de gente, es prácticamente un teatro barroco con forma de plaza central. El 17 de abril de 1993 fue declarado Bien de interés cultural.

Romería de San Marcos
Aunque no está catalogada como romería, el 25 de abril los habitantes celebran el San Marcos. Para este día las panaderías comercializan el "hornazo" que consiste en una torta dulce con huevos cocidos dentro. Algunos también tienen bolas de anís o golosinas.
Fiestas de Santa Elena
Fiestas en honor a nuestra patrona Santa Elena. Estas fiestas tienen una duración de una semana, también conocida como Semana Cultural, siendo el día grande el 18 de agosto.
Ferias y fiestas en honor al Santísimo Cristo del Valle
Esta es la fiesta grande del pueblo, que suele durar 4 días. La fiesta es el 14 de septiembre y se hace una procesión donde se acude a ver al Cristo del Valle en la iglesia del Cristo del Valle.
Lumbres en honor a la Virgen Inmaculada Concepción
El día 7 de diciembre de cada año, en la noche de la víspera del día de la Inmaculada Concepción (8 de diciembre) los vecinos hacen lumbres (hogueras) a lo largo de todo el pueblo.
