Considerado parte del alfoz de Segovia, está situado en la Campiña segoviana, a unos 10 km de la capital provincial, en la vega del río Eresma.
Dentro de su término municipal existen los despoblados de Carrascal de Gumiel y Gumiel (San Pedrillo).
La localidad está situada en el Camino de Santiago de Madrid.
