History
Hacia mediados del siglo XIX, el municipio tenía contabilizada una población de 3394 habitantes. Aparece descrito en el quinto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz con las siguientes palabras:
Hasta la reforma de la nomenclatura municipal de 1916 el municipio se llamaba simplemente Campo. En dicha fecha su nombre fue modificado por el de Campo Lameiro.

What to visit
En el municipio de Campo Lameiro se encuentra el Parque Arqueológico del Arte Rupestre, gestionado por la Junta de Galicia. Es el mayor museo de Galicia en torno a los petroglifos. Cuenta con un Centro de Interpretación -espacio expositivo y explicativo, con piezas arqueológicas, maquetas y material audiovisual- y el Área Arqueológica visitable que abarca una superficie de 22 hectáreas donde se puede observar la gran densidad de grabados rupestres.
