Ponte Caldelas is a municipality in the province of Pontevedra, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It belongs to the comarca of Pontevedra. It takes its name from an ancient bridge over the Río Caldelas.

Origins
Probablemente, el municipio recibe su nombre por el antiguo puente sobre el río Verdugo, combinado con sus manantiales termales sulfuroso-sódicas (caldas, del latín cálida, calidae, caliente).
History
In 1126 King Alfonso VII was granted the Loyalty title. On the other hand, says legend, the famous Queen Lupa, who persecuted the disciples of the apostle Santiago, was a native of this town and resided here. Later in the nineteenth century it was accorded the status of a Villa.
These lands were property of the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Gelmírez granted Ponte Caldelas privileges and franchises. In the past Ponte Caldelas belonged half to Tuy and half to the former province of Santiago.

En la calle de Lepanto de la capital municipal se encuentra el único centro sanitario del municipio, de titularidad pública también.
Transporte y comunicaciones:
La capital municipal comunica con Pontevedra por medio de la PO-532. Esta, junto a la PO-255, que comunica con La Lama, Fornelos de Montes y La Cañiza, forma el eje vertebrador O-E del municipio. La PO-244 conecta Puentecaldelas con el vecino Sotomayor, por el cual pasa la N-550. Por el norte, la principal vía es la PO-234, que comunica con Cotobad.
