Villanueva del Rey is a municipality located in the province of Córdoba, Spain. According to the 2006 census (INE), the city has a population of 1,224 inhabitants.
Monuments
Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción: Construida en el siglo XVI, reformada en el siglo XVIII. De esta época datan las cubiertas que hoy luce el edificio, que en la nave es una bóveda de medio cañón con lunetos y fajones, bajo los cuales cuelgan aparatosos placados de perfiles muy recortados.
Ermita del Apóstol Santiago: Erigida a principios del siglo XX, con una nave única y cabecera cuadrada.
Sepulcros megalíticos: Pertenecen al Calcolítico, aproximadamente al 2500 – 2000 a. C. Fueron construidos a base de grandes lajas de piedra clavadas verticalmente en el suelo y con una cubierta de piedra. Todo la estructura se cubría con un túmulo de tierra, orientándose la entrada de la sepultura hacia el este.
Castillo del Cerro de los Castillejos: Se encuentra en ruinas. En esta zona encontramos restos de muros ciclópeos y construcciones de tipo castreño, así como cerámicas a mano de fractura gruesa.
Antiguo Ayuntamiento (hoy biblioteca municipal).
Antiguo Pósito. Almacén de grano del siglo XVII. De propiedad privada, se puede ver por fuera.
