History
A funerary inscription in Latin, dating between the 1st and 3rd centuries CE, was discovered in Villamesías. The epitaph commemorates Alucius Roscius, a Jewish freedman.

En la localidad hay una iglesia parroquial bajo la advocación de Santo Domingo de Guzmán. Pertenece a la archidiócesis de Mérida-Badajoz, Diócesis de Plasencia, arciprestazgo de Miajadas.
