History
Durante la Edad Media fue encomienda y señorío de la Orden de San Juan de Jerusalén.
A mediados del siglo XIX, la villa tenía contabilizada una población de 840 habitantes. Aparece descrita en el decimosexto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Monuments
La iglesia de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora eclesiásticamente está incluida en el arciprestazgo del Alto Jalón. Es gótica, posiblemente del siglo XVI, aunque posteriormente se le añadió una cúpula barroca. Se encuentra bajo la advocación de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles.
