Cervera de la Cañada is a municipality located in the province of Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2011 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 319 inhabitants. The church of Santa Tecla in Cervera is in the list of World Heritage Sites of (UNESCO) since 2001.

Origins
La etimología de la palabra Cervera no tiene nada que ver con el perro Cerbero, guardián de los Infiernos en la mitología griega. Dada la antigüedad del nombre, cabe suponerle un origen prelatino, y relacionarlo con la raíz pre-indoeuropea kar, ker (peña), seguida de la raíz ibero-vasca -erri (lugar). El nombre de Cervera designaría pues un lugar en la peña, que encaja perfectamente con la descripción del municipio.
History
A mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar tenía contabilizada una población de 525 habitantes. Aparece descrito en el sexto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
