History
The municipality was in Carbia, a village which belongs to Vila de Cruces, until 1944. On September 19, 1944 the town hall moved to Vila de Cruces, changing the name of the municipality.

Festivals
La Patrona del pueblo es Nuestra Señora de la Piedad y se celebra su fiesta el fin de semana siguiente al 4 de agosto (excepto si es sábado que pasaría a ser el siguiente).
Coincidiendo con dicha fiesta, se celebra el Rali de Carretillas, un espectáculo deportivo y cultural basado en las carretillas. Este curioso rali se celebra dentro de la Semana Cultural organizada anualmente por la asociación cultural Miolos de Fume.
También celebra fiestas gastronómicas como la de la Castaña en noviembre, la de Chorizo en febrero y la de Gallo de Corral en mayo, todas ellas con degustación gratuita de productos de la zona.
Varias parroquias celebran el entroido (carnaval) con los "altos dos xenerais".
Los días de feria son el 4 y el 17 de cada mes.
