Tresviso is a municipality located in the autonomous community of Cantabria, Spain. The municipality is located 907 m (2,976 ft) above sea level within the Picos de Europa of the Cantabrian Mountains. The village is located on a mountain ledge approximately 800 m (2,600 ft) above the Deva River valley bottom. Despite being in Cantabria, the only road access to Tresviso is a narrow road over a 1,320 m (4,330 ft) high pass from Sotres in the neighbouring province of Asturias. Alternatively, on the Cantabrian side there is a strenuous 3-hour hike from the N621 highway along the Deva featuring many switchbacks.

Origins
Su nombre oficial Tresviso proviene de la derivación cántabra tres-visu del latín trans visum que vendría a significar "tras el collado desde el cual se empieza a ver un lugar" o bien del también latín trans abyssum, "tras el abismo".

What to visit
Patrimonio:
La iglesia parroquial de Tresviso fue construida en 1904 sobre la vieja ermita de San Pedro (edificada en el siglo XVIII). Se trata de un templo de planta en cruz latina una nave rectangular de tres tramos con muros de mampostería, ábside semicircular y coro a los pies; sobre el pórtico oeste se eleva una torre prismática.
Fiestas:
La fiesta de El Ramu se celebra el 29 de junio, festividad de San Pedro en el pueblo de Tresviso.
En la víspera de San Pedro, los mozos del pueblo se acercan al monte de valdediezma, que es un bosque de hayas próximo, en busca de un árbol con buen aspecto y consistencia al que llaman jovera. Mientras, las mozas del pueblo preparan el ramu, un arco trenzado y adornado con flores y roscos de pan.
El día de la fiesta los mozos llevan el ramu hasta la iglesia para que el cura lo reciba. Al terminar la misa se lleva en procesión a la imagen de San Pedro por las callejas del pueblo y se traslada el ramu acompañado de las mozas que van cantando. La jovera se coloca en la bolera del pueblo y se unta con grasa o jabón. Allí se subastarán los roscos y las mozas animarán a los mozos a que suban a la cobolla (parte alta de la jovera). Todo termina con la romería y después la verbena.
