Origins

History
Supposedly of Roman origin, Titulcia is situated on the ancient military road from Emerita Augusta and Cesaraugusta (now Zaragoza). With the arrival of the Arabs, the city was razed, but it regained its previous significance during the Reconquest and thereafter taking the name of Bayonne (c. 1208)
Its strategic position was recognized by the French occupiers during the Napoleonic Wars, who held it until 1814. After the defeat of the French, the town recovered its original name at the insistence of King Fernando VII.
The city was destroyed, for the fifth time in its history, during the Spanish Civil War, when it was the divisional headquarters of Republican forces.
Monuments
Iglesia de Santa María Magdalena del siglo XVI y restaurada por Regiones Devastadas. Retablo mayor con la pintura Tránsito de la Magdalena del Jorge Manuel Theotocópuli.
Cueva de la Luna: según la historia (archivos de Toledo), mandada construir por el Cardenal Cisneros. Alguna de las teorías la relaciona con los caballeros Templarios y se habla también de fenómenos paranormales que se suceden dentro de la cueva.
Parque Regional del Sureste. Parte de este parque se encuentra dentro del término municipal de Titulcia.
Yacimiento arqueológico del oppidum de Titulcia. En octubre de 2009 se encontró un plato de hace 25 siglos denominado la Pátera de Titulcia o, popularmente, Medusa de Titulcia.
