Sojuela (Spanish pronunciation: [soˈxwela]) is a municipality of the autonomous community of La Rioja, Spain. It is located near the capital, Logroño. Its population in December 2022 was 570 inhabitants over a 15.15 square kilometre area. It is the first municipality in La Rioja hosting a co-living space. Sojuela is made up of two sections. There is lots of new housing centred around the golf course, and there is the Pueblo traditionale, which has approximately 36 permanent residents. The village has a bar which is very lively, next to the ayuntamiento. It is in the heart of the wine growing area and boasts two bodegas. More than half of the varieties of the butterflies of Spain can be found in the environs of the village. The Co-living also runs Erasmus programmes. The village is at the foot of Moncalvillo and there are several walking trails in the area. On weekdays, five buses run in each direction, which includes going round the valley of which Sojuela is part, to Logroño No buses on Sunday and one bus in each direction on Saturday. Additionally, there are buses that run from Entrena which is a 45-minute walk :many more, and they run every day.

History
Aparece por primera vez en una memoria redactada por García Sánchez II de Pamplona en la que se procede a restaurar el monasterio de San Julián.
En 1044, García el de Nájera donó las villas de Medrano y Sojuela al monasterio de San Julián de Sojuela, lugar en que se han hallado sepulturas medievales. Fue una de las siete villas de Campo por privilegio de la reina Estefanía.
Años más tarde, durante la regencia de Estefanía, Sojuela se convirtió en una de las Siete villas del campo junto con Entrena, Fuenmayor, Hornos de Moncalvillo, Velilla de la Rad, Medrano y Navarrete favoreciéndose del privilegio de unión y otros derechos.
Hasta 1811 cuando se llevó a cabo la abolición de los señoríos, perteneció a los marqueses de Villacampa.
En 1790 Sojuela fue uno de los municipios fundadores de la Real Sociedad Económica de La Rioja, la cual era una de las sociedades de amigos del país creadas en el siglo XVIII conforme a los ideales de la ilustración.

What to visit
Edificios y monumentos:
Iglesia parroquial de Santa María del Pópulo, de sillería del siglo XVI; consta de una nave con coro alto a los pies. La torre de tres cuerpos fue realizada a partir de 1650 por el cantero Jacinto de Loredo.
Museos:
Casa de la Nieve de Moncalvillo. Es un centro de interpretación acerca de las neveras de la sierra de Moncalvillo.
