Pelayos de la Presa (Spanish pronunciation: [peˈlaʝos ðe la ˈpɾesa]) is a municipality in the Community of Madrid, Spain. It covers an area of 7.58 km2. As of 2018, it has a population of 2,475. It is located in the southwest of the region, near the San Juan Reservoir (retaining the waters of the Alberche), the source the municipal water supplies come from. The reservoir is shared between Pelayos de la Presa, Navas del Rey and San Martín de Valdeiglesias, with Pelayos de la Presa having jurisdiction over "El Muro" area. As it is the only reservoir in the region declared as swimming area, it attracts tourism. The Monastery of Santa María de Valdeiglesias, with its origins dating back to the 12th century, cistercian-style, is located in the municipality. It is located at 570 m over sea level.

History
A mediados del siglo XIX, la villa tenía contabilizada una población de 82 habitantes. Aparece descrita en el decimosegundo volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Hasta la reforma de la nomenclatura municipal de 1916 el municipio se llamaba simplemente Pelayos. En dicha fecha su nombre fue modificado por el de Pelayos de la Presa.

Patrimonio:
Monasterio de Santa María de Valdeiglesias . Se trata de las ruinas de un monasterio de la orden cisterciense construido en el siglo XII. Fue declarado bien de interés cultural en 1983.
Picota. Convertida en fuente en 1918, en 2011, con la remodelación de la plaza en la que se encontraba fue separada de esta para «realzar el valor histórico-artístico» de la columna.
Fiestas:
San Blas siendo el día grande el 3 de febrero, y la noche anterior se conoce como La noche de las Candelas
Romería de San Blas el último sábado de mayo. Fue instaurada en 1994.
Nª. Sra de la Asunción el 15 de agosto. Las fiestas son en torno al 15 de agosto y duran cinco días. Habitualmente se celebran conciertos al aire libre (a menudo en la plaza del pueblo) que hacen disfrutar a los pelayeros especialmente durante las noches importantes de las fiestas.
Educación:
En Pelayos de la Presa hay una guardería pública y un colegio público de educación infantil y primaria.
