Dentro de los sexmos de la Tierra de Segovia al sur del sistema Central, la aldea quedó encuadrada dentro del de Casarrubios.
Obtendría el privilegio de villazgo, otorgado por Felipe IV, el 19 de diciembre de 1626. A mediados del siglo XIX la villa tenía contabilizada una población de 328 habitantes. Aparece descrita en el sexto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
