Parada de Arriba is a municipality located in the province of Salamanca, Castile and León, Spain. As of 2016 the municipality has a population of 268 inhabitants.

Origins
En 1265 consta como Parada de Suso, es decir, de Arriba. Correlativo es el topónimo Parada de Abajo (en el siglo XIII Parada de Yuso), la actual Villaselva (Florida de Liébana). En el área portuguesa, los numerosos topónimos Parada o Paradela han sido interpretados como rellanos o descansos, generalmente situados al final de una cuesta ardua. Con un significado semejante se registran en ámbito catalán topónimos cuya base es el lat. PAUSA ‘parada, reposo’; análogamente, el topónimo menor Lo Reposador dels Bous ‘el descansadero de los bueyes’. Análogo sentido tiene el topónimo Pousafoles (posa-odres). En Galicia, son frecuentes los topónimos del tipo Alto do Posadouro, Chan do Posadouro: “más que a un parador o mesón, parecen referirse a una superficie llana o reposadero natural del terreno”.
Es abundante en la toponimia mayor (también en Salamanca, Parada de Rubiales) y menor. El Teso de la Parada, en Argujillo. El topónimo menor Las Parás de Calzada de Valdunciel alude probablemente al descansadero natural que proporcionaba este altozano a quienes regresaban de las aceñas o de Valcuevo, ya fatigados tras la larga subida.
Por muchos era conocido como "Parada de los lecheros" por la cantidad de ganaderos que vivían de la venta de la leche de sus vacas a Salamanca.
History
Su término municipal está formado por las localidades de Alberguería de Valmuza, Carrascal de Pericalvo y Parada de Arriba, ocupa una superficie total de 17,81 km² y según los datos demográficos recogidos por el INE en el año 2025, cuenta con una población de 264 habitantes.
