Almenara de Tormes is a village and municipality in the province of Salamanca, western Spain, and is part of the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is located 18 kilometres (11 mi) from the city of Salamanca and has a population of 249 people. The municipality covers an area of 19 km2 (7.3 sq mi). The village lies 782 metres (2,566 ft) above sea level and the post code is 37115.

Origins
El término Almenara proviene del árabe المنارة (al-manāra), «el faro» o «la atalaya».
El de 2 de julio de 1916 se publicó en la Gaceta de Madrid un Real Decreto por el que se cambió la denominación de la localidad de Almenara por Almenara de Tormes.
History
Su término municipal está formado por un solo núcleo de población, ocupa una superficie total de 19,29 km² y según los datos demográficos recogidos en el padrón municipal elaborado por el INE en el año 2025, cuenta con una población de 302 habitantes.
Su iglesia, del siglo XII, es de estilo románico, con un bello pórtico, y está catalogada bien de interés cultural.
Monuments
Iglesia de Nª Sª de la Asunción del siglo XII, fue declarada bien de interés cultural en el año 1993. Es una de las mejores muestras del románico de la provincia.
Ermita del Santo Cristo de las Batallas también en el casco urbano, conserva una talla de madera policromada del siglo XIII o XIV.
