Origins
Se ha propuesto que el topónimo Mirueña se trate de una derivación del hidrónimo prerromano indoeuropeo Mira a través de la forma latinizada Mironia.
History
Hacia mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar tenía contabilizada una población de 514 habitantes. La localidad aparece descrita en el decimoprimer volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:

En la localidad hay una iglesia bajo la advocación de Santa María de la Asunción.
Se encuentran además cuatro pequeños verracos de piedra, dos de ellos insertados en paredes de casas.
