Folgoso do Courel is a town and municipality in the province of Lugo, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It belongs to the comarca of Quiroga. It is one of the main villages in O Courel, a geohistorical land in the province of Lugo.
Origins
El municipio se llamó Caurel hasta 1950, cuando pasa a llamarse Folgoso de Caurel. A raíz de la aprobación de la Ley de Normalización Lingüística en el Parlamento Gallego, cambió su denominación oficial al gallego Folgoso do Courel en 1985.
