Ribas de Sil

Ribas de Sil is a town and municipality in the province of Lugo, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It is part of the comarca of Quiroga. The town is not directly related to the monastery of Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil, which is currently used as a parador and is located further west. The monastery is first mentioned in the 10th century, but is believed to have been founded here in between the 6th and 7th centuries.

History
La capital del municipio es San Clodio, aunque anteriormente la capital era Torbeo. San Clodio se encuentra junto al río Sil y está unido por varios puentes a Quiroga, entre ellos el Puente de Hierro, diseñado por el ingeniero de caminos Pelayo Mancebo de Agreda.
Las principales actividades económicas son la agricultura (sobre todo la vid), la ganadería, y la minería (existe una cantera en las proximidades de Rairos), aunque también merece ser destacado el turismo por encontrarse en la Ribeira Sacra, destacando el meandro de A Cubela, en el Cañón del Sil.
