History
A mediados del siglo XIX la villa tenía contabilizada una población de 468 habitantes. Aparece descrita en el quinto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:

Iglesia parroquial de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora, construida en el siglo XVI.
Ermita de Santa María Magdalena. La ermita corresponde a la antigua iglesia parroquial de Adobas. Este núcleo despoblado entre 1646 y 1711 fue anexionado a Castel de Cabra.
Edificio del Ayuntamiento, construido en el siglo XVI.
Ermita de San Juan Bautista, situada junto al río Cabra.
