A mediados del siglo XIX, la villa tenía contabilizada una población de 493 habitantes. En el término municipal estaba incluido el anejo de la Puebla de San Blas. Aparece descrita en el decimosexto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
