Valmala is a municipality located in the province of Burgos, Castile and León, Spain. There is a Catholic church from the 13th century. It is located in Sierra de la Demanda.

History

Es nombrada en el fuero de Cerezo, el cual fue concedido por Alfonso VII de León, el 10 de enero de 1146, a la villa de Cerezo de Río Tirón. Entre las 134 aldeas nombradas que pertenecen al alfoz de Cerezo, aparece Valmala junto con Halariza y Sancta Crux del Valle.

A la caída del Antiguo Régimen quedó constituida como ayuntamiento constitucional del mismo nombre en el partido de Belorado, región de Castilla la Vieja, contaba entonces con 174 habitantes.

A mediados del siglo XIX la villa tenía contabilizada una población de 174 habitantes. Aparece descrita en el decimoquinto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
