History
A mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar contaba con una población censada de 100 habitantes. La localidad aparece descrita en el decimoquinto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Fue en el siglo XIX, el 6 de enero de 1867, cuando nació la figura más relevante hasta el momento del municipio. Se trata de Gaspar de la Cruz Martín, escultor con cierto renombre en la capital, que murió joven el 21 de mayo de 1909 a los cuarenta y dos años de edad.

Festivals
En los últimos años, debido a la iniciativa de los vecinos y la ayuda del ayuntamiento, se han retomado las festividades que durante algunos años se habían perdido.
Las más relevantes son las fiestas populares de la semana del 15 de agosto, durante las que se realizan actividades musicales, gastronómicas y de ocio que aglutinan a la mayor parte del pueblo. Así como la fiesta del 7 de octubre (Virgen del Rosario) donde se realiza una comida popular, festividades y finalmente una procesión.
