Santa María Ribarredonda is a municipality and town located in the province of Burgos, Castile and León, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 120 inhabitants.

History
Ribarredonda nació hacia el año 882 durante la primera repoblación, al mismo tiempo que se levantaban los castillos de Pancorbo, Burgos y Castrogeriz.
Incluyó Santa María en su nombre en el siglo XVI, con la construcción de la magnífica iglesia homónima. La construcción de esta iglesia comenzó en 1518 y la finalizó el maestro Répide en 1583.
Santa María de Ribarredonda era villa en la Cuadrilla de Santa María de Ribarredonda, una de las siete en que se dividía la Merindad de Bureba perteneciente al partido de Bureba. jurisdicción de realengo con regidor pedáneo.
A la caída del Antiguo Régimen queda constituida en ayuntamiento constitucional del mismo nombre, en el partido de Miranda de Ebro en la región de Castilla la Vieja, en fecha no más tarde de 1837. El ayuntamiendo se denominó con v, Santa María Rivarredonda, y así lo refleja en 1849 el tomo XI del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz:
En 2023 una iniciativa popular liderada por el ayuntamiento logró revertir el cambio de la v de Rivarredonda y se oficializó la histórica forma con b, volviendo a ser Santa María Ribarredonda.
