History
El pueblo, que data de la Edad Media, fue fundado durante la repoblación mozárabe del Medio y Bajo Arlanza, después del año 912 coincidiendo con el traslado de la línea de defensa cristiana al río Duero.
A mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar tenía contabilizada una población de 161 habitantes. Aparece descrito en el sexto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
