Sant Pere Pescador (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈsam ˈpeɾə pəskəˈðo]) is a municipality in the comarca of Alt Empordà, Girona, Catalonia, Spain, is a small town in the Bay of Roses on the river Fluvià, on the coastline of the Costa Brava. The town has the benefit of a sandy 7 km long beach. The first reference to the town dates from 974 when it was owned by the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes part of the County of Empúries. The castle of Sant Pere dates from the 14th century. The surrounding marshes were drained in the 17th and 18th centuries, making the area an important agricultural centre. There are several orchards in the area. Tourism has become more important. Nearby is the Natural Park Aiguamolls de l’Empordà

History
Como perteneciente al Monasterio de San Pedro de Rodas ya era conocido documentalmente en el año 974 con el nombre de Villa Militiano, dentro del condado de Ampurias.
Durante la Edad Media su historia gira alrededor de su castillo de San Pedro. En él residió la reina Juana Enríquez durante la guerra civil catalana entre las fuerzas de la Generalidad y Juan II.
En los siglos XVII y XVIII se produjo la desecación de los pantanos favorecida por la desviación del curso del río Fluviá.
Su economía se reparte entre la cosecha de frutas, especialmente manzanas, el turismo y la pesca. En San Pedro Pescador funciona la Cooperativa Frutícola del Ampurdán.
El municipio, que anteriormente recibía el nombre de San Pedro Pescador cambió su denominación en 1984 por la de Sant Pere Pescador.

En el casco antiguo de la ciudad se conservan algunos tramos del muro de la antigua fortificación y casas construidas entre los siglos XVI y XIX.

Buses
