History
En 1830 nace en la localidad Narciso Martínez Izquierdo, obispo de Salamanca y de Madrid-Alcalá.
Hacia mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar tenía contabilizada una población de 148 habitantes. La localidad aparece descrita en el decimotercer volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Hasta la reforma de la nomenclatura municipal de 1916 el municipio se llamaba simplemente Rueda. En dicha fecha su nombre fue modificado por el de Rueda de la Sierra.

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves
La iglesia con arquitectura románica del siglo XII, las ermitas de la Soledad y de Santa Bárbara, el monolito en memoria al obispo Narciso Martínez, el edificio del ayuntamiento, el pairón de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves y el de la Virgen del Pilar, la casa de los Vallejo y sus dos fuentes públicas.
