La Roda (Spanish: [la ˈroða] ) is a Spanish municipality located in the Province of Albacete, within the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. It is situated along the A-31 highway and has a population of 15,527 inhabitants (INE, 2020). The town is known for its pastry known as miguelitos. It is part of the La Mancha region of Albacete.

History
Although it is not precisely known when the lands now comprising the municipality of La Roda were first inhabited, the area has historically been a crossroads, and archaeological finds include Celtiberian and Roman remains.
The town came under the protection of the infante Saúl García Nesta when, in 1305, King Ferdinand IV granted him the lands forming the Lordship of Alarcón. The municipal boundaries were established by Don Juan Manuel in 1310. Later, La Roda was part of the Marquisate of Villena until it seceded in 1476 and was incorporated into the Crown of the Catholic Monarchs.
During the Renaissance, the town experienced significant economic growth, evident in the local art and various buildings.

Gastronomy
Dentro de la gastronomía rodense, es de destacar su repostería, dentro de la cual sobresalen los denominados miguelitos, dulces hechos a base de hojaldre y crema. Más recientemente han aparecido los miguelitos de chocolate, aunque su popularidad es mucho menor.
La carne de caza está presente en platos como los gazpachos manchegos, el caldo moreno y las judías con perdiz. Otras comidas de consistencia son el atascaburras, que tradicionalmente se toma en los días de nieve, y las migas ruleras, que suelen ir acompañadas por productos como uvas, chorizo o tocino frito. Se mantiene la costumbre de la matanza del cerdo, obteniéndose embutidos como chorizos, morcillas y lomo de orza. Platos típicos que se suelen tomar cuando tiene lugar la matanza son las gachas de almortas o el ajomataero y, de postre, las dulces migas de niño.
Platos más ligeros son el pisto manchego o el moje de pimientos, elaborados a base de pimiento y tomate. Por último, son de destacar igualmente el cordero, los quesos y los vinos con Denominación de Origen La Mancha.
