Polinyà (Catalan pronunciation: [puliˈɲa]) is a municipality in the province of Barcelona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 8.8 square kilometres (3.4 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 8,238.

History
En 1965 se descubrieron en el municipio los restos de un mastodonte del periodo mioceno, un Tetralophodon longirostris, considerado el primer ejemplar completo de este tipo localizado en España.
La iglesia de San Salvador fue consagrada en 1122 y es especialmente destacada por los murales de pintura románica cuyos restos pueden verse todavía en sus paredes.
