History
A mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar tenía contabilizada una población de 291 habitantes. Aparece descrito en el decimosegundo volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Hasta la reforma de la nomenclatura municipal de 1916 el municipio se llamaba simplemente Pajares. En dicha fecha su nombre fue modificado por el de Pajares de Adaja.
