Navafría is a municipality located in the province of Segovia, Castile and León, Spain. According to the 2008 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 370 inhabitants.

History

En el pueblo se han aprovechado siempre las aguas del río Cega, de las que se surte, tanto para el consumo humano como para el riego de sus huertas y prados. También existen varios molinos, hoy sin actividad, aprovechados como viviendas. El río ha servido para mover los martinetes, de los cuales se conserva uno como museo antropológico, en el que se hacían los calderos de cobre. Las aguas del río llenan la piscina natural que hay en el pueblo al pie de un kiosco altamente concurrido en los días de verano. Su población vive de la ganadería, del trabajo en el pinar y de la construcción, fundamentalmente.

Leyenda del pozo verde:

El Pozo Verde se halla en el río Cega, en el entorno del Parque Recreativo "El Chorro", en el pinar de Navafría. Cuenta los avatares de dos jóvenes amantes que decidieron quitarse la vida ante la oposición de sus familias a su amor.
