Muriel de Zapardiel is a municipality located in the province of Valladolid, Castile and León, Spain. As for its artistic heritage, the Church of Our Lady of the Castle, Mudejar style, built between the twelfth and eleventh centuries, and near it the tower, which is separated from the church. This is because in the Middle Ages, all this set must have belonged to an order of the Templars, and the tower was a watchtower (watchtower) of civilian character, within the order.

History
A mediados del siglo XIX el lugar tenía contabilizada una población de 393 habitantes. Aparece descrito en el decimoprimer volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Monuments
En cuanto a su patrimonio artístico destaca la iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Castillo o de la Asunción, de estilo románico-mudéjar, y construida entre los siglos XI y XII, y cerca de ella, la torre, que se encuentra separada de la iglesia. Esto se debe a que en la Edad Media, todo este conjunto debió pertenecer a una encomienda de los templarios, y la torre era una torre vigía de carácter civil, dentro de la encomienda. El 12 de enero de 2026, la iglesia sufrió el derrumbe del muro del ábside, por lo que quedó inhabilitada y cerrada al público hasta su reconstrucción.
