Mandayona is a municipality located in the province of Guadalajara, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 405 inhabitants.

Origins
Entre las opciones que se barajan del origen del topónimo de Mandayona se encuentra una procedencia árabe-bereber. El nombre derivaría de la nominación de la tribu bereber de los Madyuna. Otras hipótesis son un origen vasco (de Mandaiona, que es el nombre histórico de la villa) o un derivado del término indoeuropeo prerromano Mandonius.
History
A mediados del siglo XIX, la villa tenía contabilizada una población de 334 habitantes. Aparece descrita en el undécimo volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Monuments
En el lugar hay una iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol y una ermita bajo la advocación de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad.
What to visit
Una decena de casas rurales y establecimientos hosteleros, debido a su cercanía con el parque natural del Barranco del Río Dulce. Por el municipio pasan la Ruta de la Lana, entre Mirabueno y Baides, y el Camino del Cid.

Festivals
El 8 de septiembre celebra sus fiestas patronales en honor a la Virgen de la Paz. Se celebran recorridos de carrozas, toros de fuego y bailes, amenizados por las peñas. Antiguamente se celebraba una fiesta llamada «El Ahorcado», el día 27 de enero.
