La localidad se encuentra situada a una altitud de 831 m s. n. m. y a una distancia de 39,6 km de la capital de provincia, Burgos.

Patrimonio:
Iglesia parroquial de San Miguel. Declarada bien de interés cultural en 1983.
Rollo de Justicia en la plaza Mayor.

Gorretes, porque ya hemos visto que en su iglesia parroquial le fue impuesta la gorra o birrete cardenalicio al Arzobispo Jiménez de Cisneros, por estar a la sazón de luto la Corte en la próxima villa de Santa María del Campo (septiembre de 1507).
