Jafre (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈʒafɾə]) is a village in Girona, within the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 6.63 square kilometres (2.56 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 396.
History
La localidad aparece documentada desde el año 895. A mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar tenía contabilizada una población de 220 habitantes. La localidad aparece descrita en el noveno volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
