Hermisende is a municipality located in the province of Zamora, Castile and León, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 383 inhabitants. It was ceded by Portugal after the Portuguese Restoration War in the Treaty of Lisbon (1668).

History
Se encuentra situado al noroeste de la provincia de Zamora, junto a la provincia gallega de Orense y a la frontera con Portugal, a la altura de la región histórica de Trás-os-Montes. Pertenece a la denominada Alta Sanabria, una subcomarca de la comarca histórica y tradicional de Sanabria. En su término municipal se encuentran las localidades de Castrelos, Castromil, Hermisende, San Ciprián y La Tejera.
Es uno de los municipios bilingües de la provincia de Zamora, ya que sus habitantes utilizan habitualmente tanto el idioma español como el gallegoportugués.
