Garcihernández

Garcihernández is a village and municipality in the province of Salamanca, western Spain, part of the autonomous community of Castile-Leon. It is located 30 kilometres (19 mi) from the provincial capital city of Salamanca and has a population of 590 people. It was the location of the Battle of García Hernández in 1812, during the Peninsular War.

History
Además de la propia Garcihernández, su municipio está formado por las localidades de El Pardo, Garcihernández, La Lurda, Jemingómez, Matamala, La Cida, La Granja y Azud de Villagonzalo, las tres últimas despobladas. Ocupa una superficie total de 47,59 km² y, según los datos demográficos recogidos en el padrón municipal elaborado por el INE, cuenta con una población de 412 habitantes (INE 2025).

What to visit
La parroquia local, bajo la advocación de San Juan Bautista, es de estilo mudéjar reformada. Sus fiestas patronales son en honor al patrón del municipio San Juan Bautista el 24 de junio y a San Blas, el 3 de febrero.
