History
Lugar que durante la Edad Media perteneció a la Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Soria formando parte del Sexmo de Lubia.
A la caída del Antiguo Régimen la localidad se constituyó en municipio constitucional en la región de Castilla la Vieja, partido de Soria que en el censo de 1842 contaba con 31 hogares y 120 vecinos. A mediados del siglo XIX, el lugar tenía contabilizadas 42 casas. Aparece descrito en el quinto volumen del Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar de Pascual Madoz de la siguiente manera:
Entre el censo de 1857 y el anterior crece el término del municipio porque incorpora a Ojuel.
Monuments
Iglesia de San Juan Bautista: Es de estilo gótico. Custodia una reliquia de San Máximo. En el interior hay un retablo gótico de piedra policromada, ejemplo casi excepcional en la provincia.
Ermita de la Virgen de la Amorosa.
Torreón.
En su término municipal aparecen restos de cerámica sigilata y común.
