Alcanó (Catalan pronunciation: [alkaˈno]) is a village in the province of Lleida and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. It has a population of 244 (register office, 2025) .

History
The municipality was first mentioned in a 1203 document which detailed the acquisition of a palace by Gombau of Camporrells, bishop of Lerida in exchange for the rights to the Alcanó Almunia. The Alcanó Almunia is of a Saracen origin.
In documents from 1267 it appeared under the name Alcanó de la Frontera. The lordship of the castle belonged to Hug de Tolosa and later to Pere de Sanahuja. In 1450 he became the Clergy of Lleida.

What to visit
Cerca de la plaza Mayor se encuentra un edificio que se corresponde con el antiguo castillo de la villa. El edificio está muy reformado pero aún pueden verse elementos originales como una ventana de forma ojival o algunos de los muros interiores.
La iglesia parroquial está dedicada a San Pedro Apóstol. Es del siglo XVIII y de estilo barroco. Destaca el cimborrio de grandes dimensiones y su campanario de base octogonal. En 1936 se destruyeron dos retablos barrocos que se conservaban en su interior, ambos del siglo XVIII.
Alcanó celebra su fiesta mayor en el mes de agosto.
